The Demand Planner is responsible for product forecasts to ensure merchandising and inventory plans are synchronized to achieve or exceed sales, inventory turns, margin and service level objectives.
An individual in this position is responsible for building using planning tools to generate and analyze performance data on their area of responsibility.

Forecasts sales, margin and inventory for clearance, seasonal and promotional to maximize profitability and service levels and minimize residual inventory levels.

 Demand Planners are responsible for monitoring and measuring the accuracy of established forecast.

They will be required to interpret data based on specific knowledge of advanced statistics and procedures used and synthesize findings from analysis. Analyzes existing store sales trends and promotional results.

MAJOR TASKS, RESPONSIBILITIES AND KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

20% Manage business results by partnering with buyer to develop seasonal department exit strategies, reviews weekly store to sales ratios and overall business at class level, working with Merchant to review and update the open-to-buy, responding to changing sales trends, ensuring departments achieve inventory plan.

20% Make informed decisions by using analytical thinking skills to identify potential problems and develop appropriate solutions, compiling and thoroughly evaluating all relevant information to include the input of others, making adjustments to the plan based on analysis.

15% Develop forecasts by utilizing category and class trends, seasonality, ad schedules, and new item introductions.

15% Utilize the open to buy process to maintain budgeted inventory.

10% Support merchants in assortment planning process, compiling and analyzing assortment data utilizing the planning tools available.

10% Work with replenishment to ensure top level plans are executed at DC and store level to achieve targeted sales, turn and sell through.

10% Identify the impact future promotional and ad plans to margin, and work with merchants to minimize risk and meet targeted goals.

ENVIRONMENTAL JOB REQUIREMENTS

Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.

Typically requires overnight travel less than 10% of the time.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Must be eighteen years of age
Must pass the Drug Test
Must pass the Background Check
Must pass pre-employment tests if applicable

EDUCATION REQUIRED -

YEARS OF RELEVANT WORK EXPERIENCE - 2

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Masters Degree with an emphasis in Engineering or Supply Chain Management.
Advanced computer skills to retrieve, manipulate, analyze, and interpret data with experience with MS Office; MS Access, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, MS Project & statistical software.

Demonstrated analytical and problem solving skills.

Strong oral and written communication skills.

Microsoft Office Applications including Excel and Access.

Strong ability to multitask and handle competing priorities at once.

Strong self starter with ability to work with little supervision.
