GENERAL JOB FUNCTION
To ensure the manufacturing facility meets all minimum quality standards as defined by company policy, customer requirements, and all applicable regulatory agencies: and to ensure continued quality improvements.
SUMMARY OF JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsible for assisting in the managing of the Total Quality Department to ensure products and processes comply with company and customers specifications or standards to maximize revenue for the company. Ensures that food-processing conditions are such that products are produced in accordance to CFR Title 21, Part 110 (current good manufacturing practices).
A. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS, DUTIES, AND RESPONSIBILITIES
These duties and requirements directly substantially serve to achieve the purpose of the position.
- Responsible for providing a safe working environment for department employees including training, instructions and supervision.
- Monitors the TQ department plans (incoming inspection, finished product inspection, lab calibration, etc.) to ensure that the criteria is being adhered to in order that processes, products and services meet established quality standards.
- Organizes TQ department’s activities by assigning and supervising all personnel activities.
- Evaluates internal and external product failures (non-conforming product, customer complaints, market return, etc.) and generate corrective action and/or preventive actions for continuing trends.
- Responsible for assuring the proper disposition of no-conforming product.
- Demonstrates a collaborative relationship with other department managers in order that overall plant goals can be achieved (yields, waste, safety, cost, service, etc.)
- Ensure that suppliers’ products meet company’s specifications and guidelines.
- Participates in the food safety meetings and to audits to support/adhere to food safety guidelines.
- Interacts with regulatory officials
- Assists in designing and carrying out process or formulas experiments with the technical service department.
- Maintain proper records of the department’s activities.
- Reports department’s activities, tests and other pertinent information as required.
- Support plant’s compliance to the corporate quality policy, manual, & procedures.
- Supervises TQ Technicians, and Raw Material Technicians’ work.
- Manages TQ Technicians absentee issues rescheduling work as needed.
- Must keep track of materials for testing to assure the TQ laboratory does not run out
- Follow GMP’s and Safety standards at all times
- Attend safety and quality training as required
- Accountable for ensuring that all safety policies and regulations are enforced, by issuing disciplinary actions.
- Responsible for safety training, enforcement of safety rules/policies as well as drug control policy.
- Maintaining a safe work environment by conducting formal inspections that includes work orders and follow up.
- Injury and illness reporting with 24 hours and analysis/investigations within 48 hours.
- Perform as TQ Manager in his/her absence
- Perform other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED SKILLS
Education Level
- Minimum Bachelor of Science in Food Science Technology, Food Engineering, Chemistry, or related field.
Experience
- 2-5 years in food processing plant, preferably in a bakery.
- Supervisory experience in food processing/manufacturing quality filed preferred.

- HACCP
- Proficient in Microsoft office
